Starring Rachel Tucker (Wicked), this joyous new musical shares the incredible real-life story of the 7,000 air passengers from all over the world who were grounded in Canada during the wake of 9/11, and the small Newfoundland community that invited these ‘come from aways’ into their lives.
As uneasiness turned into trust and music soared into the night, gratitude grew into friendships and their stories became a celebration of hope, humanity and unity.
The curtain is up as soon as you enter the Theatre with trees and chairs scattered around the stage. As soon as the first number began I was hooked and a huge smile was fixed for the whole of the opening. You can’t fail to be lifted by the upbeat music and characters as the story starts to unfold. Whilst this initially seems as though it could be a morbid tale of 9/11 you soon realise this is actually about friendships and community and the way humanity pulls together through even the most awful events. Each actor plays numerous characters but it is so easy to keep up with the story. The performances are phenomenal and with no interval to interrupt the story you are gripped the whole way through. If you are looking for a quality piece of musical theatre with a comedy, tragedy, drama and skilled choreography then Come From Away is the show you need to see!
