Sandringham Craft and Wood Festival is now in its second year. The show keeps the core elements of the Craft Fair with floored and carpeted craft marquees with a mix of quality artists, designers, jewellers, woodturners, craftsmen and coppice woodsmen. A selection of specialist wood demonstrations and attractions will keep you entertained all day long.

The ever popular chainsaw carving area will host an International chainsaw carving competition as well as daily speed carves with a chance to win your favourite carving at auction.

The show will include a working wood demonstration from forestry and timber sports along with a steam section and rack saw demonstrations.

To complement your day there will be a fine food hall, a range of quality catering, bar and childrens amusements.

The Essex Highlands - Morning Coffee & Lunch in an Old English Thatched Pub

(With a Guided Tour That Proves Essex is Far From Flat!)

With morning coffee and lunch included at a thatched pub in a picture postcard village, a coach tour of the little known Essex Highlands in the Hundred of Uttlesford and time for tea and a wander in beautiful Saffron Walden, this is an ideal day to come back out again and enjoy a day together.

We arrive in Arkesden at 10.30am to meet our entertaining and helpful Blue Badge Tour Guide for morning refreshments. Arkesden is hidden in rolling countryside off the M11 between Junctions 8 and 9. About 10 miles South of Duxford or North of Birchanger.

Our morning coach tour will forever dispel the notion of Essex as a flat county and show you just how beautiful this part of Essex is. In fact we slip in and out of three counties during our circular tour and from high in the coach you’ll get lovely views and there are plenty of interesting stories to create a thoroughly entertaining morning. Oh how we've missed these country drives!

Then it's back in Arkesden “the gem of the Essex Highlands” and our thatched pub for a tasty steak pie lunch. Pre-booked vegetarian and gluten free options are available. We leave it to individuals to decide if they'd like to treat themselves to a dessert on the day. The landlord is not daft - he sends his staff out with an old fashioned sweet trolley. groaning with tempting things. Just try and resist!

After lunch there's time to wander over to see the brightly painted effigies in the old church before we drive past stately Audley End on our way to Saffron Walden named for the saffron crocus once grown in the surrounding fields. You can join the Guide for a gentle town trail before finishing a spot to settle for tea. We'll be heading home at 4.30pm.

Set within the beautiful surroundings of Sandringham. This show has grown to be a favourite with locals offering excellent country sports demonstrations and arena displays. This year will be different and following the government roadmap this event will be subject to the government guidelines set at the time of the event. We expect this to include a limit on visitor numbers into the event each day and as a result the event has been extended from a two day event to three days for to be able to proceed and control this.

Unfortunately, this does mean that some of your favourite arena events will be unable to join us this year but we hope that you will still be able to enjoy all on offer and stay safe.

The World of Dogs offers the very best in dog displays accompanied by a gun dog clinic, multi-scurry, fun dog show, chase the bunny, lurcher racing and showing. Something for every dog lover and country enthusiast, so don’t leave your dog at home.

There is also the opportunity to have a go at clay shooting weather your a novice, beginner or an expert with your own gun there is tuition and advice on hand. The shooting village offers field archery and a range of airgun disciplines with ATEO – Airgun training and education organisation.

While the Food Glorious Food offers a range of selected national and local food producers and specialist street foods and drinks. Here you will find the country kitchen hosting a number of cookery demonstrations throughout the day – the perfect place to relax and unwind.
