Newmarket Stud & Heritage Centre Tour – Sunday 2nd May 2021 – Coach trip from Norwich
The National Stud opened its gates to the public for the first time in the mid 1970s. To this day The National Stud remains the only commercial stud farm in the UK allowing individuals, small groups and large parties the chance to see behind the scenes of a working Thoroughbred stud farm.
Tours of The National Stud last approximately 90 minutes and are taken by coach and on foot. The tours explore this beautiful 500-acre site and focus on introducing visitors to the history and purpose of The National Stud as a commercial Thoroughbred breeding operation. The National Stud is a working commercial stud farm, so the physical content of the tours varies throughout the year, depending on the season and the activities happening on the stud when you visit. There is then an opportunity for lunch, following which we visit the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art.
This is situated in Charles II’s sporting palace and stables and spans five acres in the heart of Newmarket. It comprises three complementary attractions; a new National Horseracing Museum, a National Art Gallery of British Sporting Art, and a chance to meet former racehorses and learn what they do after racing, in the flagship home of Retraining of Racehorses. Part of the visit is a guided tour followed by free time to browse.
The National Heritage Centre at Palace House is the result of over ten years planning, building and fundraising to become the biggest new attraction to open in Suffolk in the last decade. Voted Suffolk Museum of the year 2017.
The Heritage Centre also features The Tack Room: Food by the Pantry. It is accessible to all the public, not just Heritage Centre ticket holders, and can be accessed via large gates on Palace Street directly into the King’s Yard or from the atrium that runs from Rous Road car park through to Palace Street.
Retraining of Racehorses demonstrations take place daily in the arena at 11.30 and 14.30 daily.

Belvoir Castle & Gardens (Grantham) – Sunday 11th July 2021 – Coach from Norwich
Following our popular visit in October 2020, join IC Travel on this fabulous day out to Belvoir Castle & Gardens.
Belvoir Castle’s history dates back to the eleventh century. It is the ancestral home of the Duke of Rutland, where the family have lived in an unbroken line for almost a thousand years.
Crowning a hill, the Castle’s turrets and towers rise over the Vale of Belvoir like an illustration in a romantic fairy-tale. The name Belvoir – meaning ‘beautiful view’ in French, and pronounced today as ‘beaver’ – dates back to Norman times.
Belvoir Gardens was designed and landscaped by Elizabeth Howard, 5th Duchess of Rutland, who was married to John Manners, the 5th Duke of Rutland. It was created in 1799, the year Belvoir Castle was built. There are many unusual features to the gardens, for example the natural amphitheatre which faces the estate was formed by the moraines of glaciers and a ‘root house’ or summer house which survives to this day. These natural amphitheatres are now embedded with fresh water springs to ensure blooming plants throughout the year.
Belvoir Gardens was also the first site of mass spring flower bedding, a concept developed by Mr. Divers, head gardener of the gardens at the time.
The once thriving gardens are now slowly being restored to its former glory. “Friends of Belvoir Gardens” is a programme which encourages enthusiasts with green fingers to volunteer to help manage this beautifully preserved garden.
Route via Taverham, Thickthorn, Wymondham & Attleborough.

Highclere Castle – Downton Abbey – Thursday 29th July 2021
Find out more about the castle and your visit by clicking here.
Highclere Castle is not only a beautiful building, but a warm and welcoming home. Playing host to family and friends, but also to events and celebrations with visitors and guests from around the world.
We are delighted to welcome you to explore the history of the Castle, the illuminating Egyptian Exhibition narrating the discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamun, and the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding gardens and grounds.
Many of the rooms and vistas will be familiar to viewers of ‘Downton Abbey’ – both the Drawing Room and Dining Room forming the backdrop to the dryly withering put-downs delivered by Maggie Smith, as the Dowager Countess to some poor unfortunate relation. The distinctive gardens and park designed by Capability Brown, offer interest and enjoyment throughout the year and gratifying growth and change, as the seasons turn.
